no more fake smiles is a not-for-profit nationally registered charity, established by Annie and her mother Tracey four years after Annie found her voice and felt strong enough to speak out about the sexual abuse, she had endured for two years from her stepfather.
NMFS empowers child victims to speak up and is their safe space to heal. We support child and youth victims of sexual abuse from 0-24 and their carer, walking beside them on their journey from surviving with anger to living fully with happiness.
It takes a village to raise a child but a whole community to keep them safe. Keeping children safe is everyone's business. All children and young people have a right to feel and be safe at all times. However, this is not the case for thousands of children around Australia. 18,982 children reported sexual abuse in Australia in, 2021 with 82% of perpetrators known to their victim. Child sexual abuse is a pandemic of a very different kind that has gone unnoticed in our society for far too long.
NMFS is the safe space Annie dreamt of finding throughout her years of abuse…
NMFS was created with passion and love to be the change we wish to see in the world. Sexual abuse increased 13% in the last year, and 61% of victims were under 18 years of age. This crime is on the rise, but it remains massively underfunded and under resourced.
We are fiercely victim first and dedicated to make improvements to support survivors. With our comprehensive mental health program, advocacy efforts, and victim-first support, we strive to bring healing, justice, and empowerment to those in need.
